ERIC RIGLER • DIRK FREYMUTH
"World's Most Recorded Piper" Eric Rigler (BRAVEHEART, TITANIC, AUSTIN POWERS, OUTLANDER, THE SIMPSONS, PHIL COLLINS, JOSH GROBAN, FAITH HILL, etc.) and multi-talented guitarist/producer Dirk Freymuth team-up to create a soundscape of Celtic spirit and energy. Featuring haunting Irish & Scottish melodies, blazing jigs & reels, and iconic themes from Eric’s 30-year career in the film, television and recording industries, the duo produce a sublime sonic experience.
BELGROVE ROAD, the project’s first release, weaves primarily Irish traditional music (and original title cut penned by Dirk) with a relaxed pulse of world percussion. Showcasing Eric on Irish uilleann pipes, highland bagpipes, high & low whistles, and Dirk on acoustic & electric guitars, bouzouki, electric bass and keyboards, the album ebbs and flows with a groove-based feel accompanied by friends Wanda Law (Irish fiddle & viola) and Jimi Englund (percussion).
LIVE ON PBS SOCAL features music from the 2017 PBS TV Special, Celtic Journeys: Songs & Soundtracks. Drawing from a curated collection of Irish & Scottish traditional tunes and songs, Eric & Dirk are joined by featured artist, Nuala Kennedy. Hailing from Dundalk, Ireland, Nuala’s nuanced mastery of Gaelic song seeps into the mystical & haunting “Fhir a' Bhàta (The Boatman)” and perennial classic, “She Moved Through the Fair”. The ensemble is further expanded on barn-burning jigs & reels with longtime collaborators, Wanda Law and Jimi Englund, with Nuala soaring on Irish flute. Rounding out the set list are themes from Eric’s solos on the current STARZ Channel hit series, OUTLANDER, Tom Hanks & Paul Newman’s THE ROAD TO PERDITION, Russell Crowe’s CINDERELLA MAN, and the late composer James Horner’s epics, BRAVEHEART and TITANIC.
Both incredibly gifted musicians with long careers filled with musical diversity, adventure, creativity and a bit of fame, Eric and Dirk formed their project in 2014. The two developed their live show with the goal of performing soundtrack music, Celtic traditional music, and original compositions using looping pedals, effects processors, and other music technology.
